# Create Tag

`lawmatics_create-tag` · Lawmatics MCP tool · Tags

Create a tag in Lawmatics with a name and optional description and color. Tags can be attached to matters, contacts, companies, and tasks for categorization.

## Input

- **name** `string` (required) — Tag name
- **description** `string` — Free-text tag description
- **color** `string` — Tag color. Any CSS-valid color (hex, rgb, hsl, or color name)

## Output

- **id** `string` (required) — Lawmatics tag ID of the newly created tag
- **name** `string` (required) — Tag name
- **description** `string | null` (required) — Free-text tag description; null when the tag has none or the response omits it
- **color** `string | null` (required) — Tag color as a CSS color string (e.g. #554433); null when the tag has none or the response omits it
- **createdAt** `string | null` (required) — When the tag was created, as an ISO 8601 timestamp; null when the create response omits it
- **updatedAt** `string | null` (required) — When the tag was last updated, as an ISO 8601 timestamp; null when the create response omits it
